Vintage BRITANOID Barker Brothers Silversmiths Ltd. Twin Handled Caddy Sugar Bowl c. 1900s
Stamped on base: BRITANOID - shamrock with three stars trademark – EP – within lozenge BB above S Ld - number 7216 possibly 1930s. Within the edge scratched mark 1823 US/S PV/J. Barker Brothers Silversmiths Ltd. Birmingham – 1907 – 1960 - Britanoid silver plate twin handled sugar or tea caddy (no lid though lip suggests that at one time it did have a lid). Has a pretty engraved design on the side with an oval cartouche in the centre on each opposing side; if you wanted to add a monogram. Consider that this was meant for tea rather than sugar because of the size which would definitely hold a 1lb of sugar.
Height: 4 ½” 11.5 cm
Width from edge of handle to edge of handle: 7 ½” 19 cm.
Depth: 3 ½” 8.5 cm
Commensurate with age appears to have a copper colour to the silver. Decoration not as crisp as I suspect it once was.
Weight: 420g.
