DEYKIN & SONS Sheffield Plated German Silver Tantalus Glass Decanters With Bungs c.1900
Stamped impress marks on both parts of the tantalus identical in individual lozenges: Sheffield Crown – 3 Prince of Wales Feathers possibly Deykin & Sons (1854 Electroplated Ware introduced) – [P] plated – [G] German – [S] silver.
Description of tantalus heavy (nearly 2lb alone without glass decanters) 900g. With carrying handle decorated with grapes and vines which replicate the border and feet. The sides are quatrefoil pierced design and the base is bead edged. What a magnificent item to place upon the table to serve red and white wine, brandy and port, sherry dry and sweet.
The beautiful classic ribbed glass decanters are again elegant. One stopper which in itself is good quality hobnail design fits but is a bit loose but serves the purpose. All are commensurate with age.
