Queen Victoria Halfpenny 1/2d Coins Bag of 4

£2.00

Queen Victoria Halfpenny 1/2d Coins Bag of 4

The British pre-decimal halfpenny (1/2d), coin, known simply as ha’penny, after 1860 was minted in bronze (pre. 1860 Copper). Reverse: from 1672 to 1936 Britannia. From 1937 onwards the Golden Hind ship. Obverse British Monarch.

During Victoria’s reign, the halfpenny was first issued with the so-called ‘bun head’, or ‘draped bust’ of Queen Victoria on the obverse. The inscription around the bust read VICTORIA D G BRITT REG F D. This was replaced in 1895 by the ‘old head’, or ‘veiled bust’. The inscription on these coins read VICTORIA DEI GRA BRITT REGINA FID DEF IND IMP.

Four barely discernible halfpenny coins with the Queen’s head on one side. The only legible date 1891 is the coin which has also a drilled hole for jewellery purposes.

Weight of all bronze coins: 19.64g
