W.S. ONCE SILVER PLATED COFFEE HOT WATER POT CIRCA 1842-1883

£16.00

W.S. ONCE SILVER PLATED COFFEE HOT WATER POT CIRCA 1842-1883

W.S Possibly William Spurrier Birmingham or W. Savage Sheffield. Diamond Shape Lozenge within which is, from top to bottom; a ‘x’ underneath an ‘o’ then underneath a crown/coronet. Underneath is ‘W.S’ followed underneath by ‘2 6 9’ then beneath ‘5’. Directly under the lozenge is a ‘C’. The silver plate is evident only in a few areas of the item but mostly evident under the raised lid which is hinged. The finial knob [is attached to the lid by a butterfly screw] in the form of a rose sitting on a leaf. The main body is onion shaped ribbed but without decoration. The spout and c-scroll handle are draped in foliage. The handle has the white separators spacers to prevent heat transfer. The four feet emulate the handle and spout with foliage leaves.

Condition: definitely commensurate with age and use through the 100 plus years of use. The handle is a bit loose and the spout appears to be out of shape around the bend from the join to the main body. This item would have looked magnificent at one time when in first use. If re-silvered this item again would look magnificent. The quality is all there.

Weight: 2 lb 11 oz 1 kg 300g without packaging.

Height: 11” 27 cm From the edge of the handle to the spout: 8 ½” 21 cm. Depth at widest part: 6” 14 cm.
